A lot of duplexes do not have strata fees and if they do, they have less by-laws to deal. The strata is more relaxed in a duplex complex. Esquimalt has quite a few duplexes for sale, as there are several homes, that have been zoned on duplex lots. Developers are buying this homes, tearing them down, building duplexes, so as to provide more homes for sale in Victoria BC. Duplex lots are typically zoned to allow two dwellings, however there are some duplexes that are built with suites as well, providing additional accommodation and revenue, which is great, as most townhouses do not offer this additional income and opportunity.
